Not Much Blogging, But I Am Still Knitting

I know I haven't checked in for a few days,but I have been busy with taking care of the family. Jalen, my oldest son, starts school in a few weeks and I have been collecting school supplies and shopping for clothes. Can anyone tell me what a kindergartner needs with 12 glue sticks? Wal-mart had them for $0.20 for a twin pack and I had the hardest time finding them around town, but I finally got them all. I have all his supplies, but the bookbag and 2 notebooks. So that is done!!!! I have made some progress on the Eyelet Dress and it looks good.

An Old Project Restarted

Well, I started the Dress with Eyelets back in May, but once I started my Pink Rusted Root, I put the dress on the back burner. So now that my sweater is done, it's back to the dress. I am one of those people who just can't have too many knitting projects going on at one time. I felt bad that I put that dress aside, but I am excited to restart it. And when I say restart, I mean restart! I ripped out all my yarn and started over from the beginning.

I wasn't happy with the border of the dress so I decided to make a seed stitch edge instead. I will also be changing the edge on the neckline and arms to seed stitch. I still haven't found ribbon to put in the eyelet holes but I'm not worried about that right now. I just want to complete this little dress. It is one of the main reasons I purchased that book. Needles:

Boye's Circulars Size 5 for ribbed edges, Size 7 for the rest

Yardage:

5 Balls with some left over {207 yd per ball}

Modifications:

Not many. I changed the type of yarn. The needle sizes to get gauge.

Enjoyment Factor: 10

Good Things:

This yarn was such a beautiful shade of Pink, it's not too pastel. I love the fact that I could try on the sweater as I was knitting, because it is knitted from the top to the bottom. This yarn in machine washable and dryable. This is the second adult sweater I have knitted this year and it only July! Knitting in the round is great and much faster knitting for me. Making it easy for me to bet my deadline of July 31st.

Bad Things:

The yarn does split some as you knit with it, so you have to be careful.

Ugly Things:

I don't think this sweater looks as good on me as it did on everyone else, but you know what? I am going to rock the hell out of it with my Bermuda shorts . . .believe that!

Pink Rusted Root Progress

I can say that I have been working on my Rusted Root the past few days with a great deal of determination. I have completed the sleeves, the ribbed edging and all. I have also completed the edging around the neckline. I just completed my last waist decrease and I feel that I am on the home stretch now. I have a short torso, so it shouldn't be much longer now before I'm done. I do believe I will make my deadline of the end of the month and most likely, bet it! That would be wonderful! A Purchase I Wasn't Coming Home Without

As you may know, I have been working on my Berry Rusted Root sweater for a little over a month now. And from day one,I have had a hard time finding the 24" circular needles that are needed to complete this project. I have looked everywhere in town with no luck. I have known for some time now that I was just going to have to break down and by an interchangeable circular needle set, but I didn't know it would be this soon. I know there are several different companies that make interchangeable needles, but I didn't know what brand to choose?

I won an eBay auction for some 32" bamboo circular needles about a week ago, but after knitting with them for 2 days the tubing on the end broke. I am in the process of getting my money back for that purchase. Well, I was cleaning out my purse and I found a 50% off coupon for Joann's but it was an in store coupon only. I told my husband I would be back and I was off on my hunt.

I went to Joann's with my coupon in hand, but when I got there they did not have a circular set. I was not going back home without my needles! So, I drove over to A. C. Moore Crafts and they did have the set for $69.99. Well, that was not an issue for me because I knew A. C. Moore accepted their competitor's coupons. Long story short, I decided to purchase the Boye's Needlemaster Interchangeable Needle Set and I got it half off. I am happy with my purchase and my knitting can continue.

Newly Added To The Collection

Well, the UPS delivery man just left and I have something new to add to my yarn stash. I have been looking forward to my arrival of this wonderful yarn. A local craft store here in town carried this yarn last fall and I fell in love with it! But I just could not afford enough to make a sweater. It was going for $6.99 per skein. Well as you can see I have several skeins now --30 in total.

I purchased this yarn from Little Knits online. It is called Peru Luxury DK and it is made of 70% Merino, 20% Alpaca and 10% Silk. It has 124 yards/50 gram skein and knits at 5.5 stitches/ inch on US size 6 needles. I ordered the Beige with a hint of Khaki, the Imperial Purple, and the Peruvian Skies. A 10 count bag was only $25.75 or you can buy it by the skein for $2.99. Believe me, you are getting an amazing value if you just buy it by the bag. It is super soft and has beautiful stitch definition. It is so worth it's price and worth the small wait for it to arrive.
