Another Day with Rusted Root

As I promised, here is the progress on my Pink Rusted Root. I have finally got to the section of the pattern where you start to decrease on the arms. I didn't think I was ever going to reach that point. I had a hard time finding a 32" circular knitting needle and had to settle for a 29". Let me tell you, it is not easy keeping all those stitches on that smaller needle. But so far so good.

I am making this sweater in XXL, because I am a big girl. There I said it. I am a big girl. But there are a great deal of knitting patterns out there for us. I love the lace detail with this project, but now I will have to find a tank top to were underneath. Not everyone like to layer their clothes, but you know what, this sweater is worth it! Well, I'd better get off this computer, I hear thunder outside and I don't want anything to happen to it. Good Night.

We Love Cool Air!

I haven't posted anything in a few days and that is because I have been relaxing on my sofa in the cool air after my almost 3 week unwanted tropical vacation. Some of you may know from my previous post, that my AC had been out. It was finally fixed on Thursday, June 21st. Thank God! I didn't think I could take another day of 88 degree or hotter temperatures in this house.

I am now in the process of seeing if my landlord is going to give us some type of pain and suffering adjustment in our July rent payment. I think it would be fair for him to do that, but we will see. I mailed him a letter requesting an adjustment, but if he doesn't -- KARMA will get him. That I know for sure.

I have also been knitting, but not as much, it was just too hot! But I am back on track. I have set a personal goal to have this sweater finished by the end of July. I hope I can do it. Wish me luck.

Still Knitting and Hot as Hell!

I haven't wrote anything in a few days and thought I should let you know I am still knitting. But not much for other reasons. There just seems to always be something going on that I did not expect.

I have been trying to stay cool in this hot heat, but it just isn't working. My AC has been out since June 2 and it is hot as HELL in this house!!!! We have contacted our landlord, but no AC yet. I am about to lose it! It is 12:01 am right now and the thermostat says 86 degrees --- downstairs. God knows how hot it is upstairs. The family and I only go upstairs to take showers and to grab some clothes. It has been so hot that my husband, me, and our kids are now sleeping downstairs in the family room with, REALLY, 4 fans blowing on us to keep cool. I have just about enough of this !!!!

I know I am not talking much about my knitting, but sometime you just have to let your feeling out about things that are bothering you. Sorry, if I bored you with my frustration.

Multi-Tasking in Knitting -- Me?

I have always been the type of person to complete one task before moving on to another, but I am finding myself following a different path when it comes to knitting. As you see, I have three projects on the needles at one time.

I find myself reading other knitter's blogs at night after I have put my kids to bed and most of them have several projects going at once, I figure I can do it too. I think three has to be my limit. I don't want to be one of those knitters who start projects and just give up on completing them or just have them sitting on the needles I need for another project. Yes, three will be my limit and I hope to complete them all by the middle of July. We'll see!

Moving on to Bigger and Better Things

I have been busy these past few days preparing for the graduations of my oldest son Jalen. He graduated from Pre-School today along with 19 other students. As you can see, he was very happy about his big day.

I also got a huge shock at the ceremony. I was voted the Classroom Most Outstanding Parent. I was surprised! I got a certificate and had to go up in front of the whole crowd of parents, family, and friends. My other family member in attendance cheered me on. It was great!

As Jalen's parents, his Dad and I wanted to do something special for him. So, we decided to do what we do best, we had a BIG BOYKIN COOKOUT! We had grandparents, aunts, an uncle, cousins, and friends of the family all at our home to celebrate in our happiness. Our son really enjoyed learning and playing with his classmates this past school year. They went on several educational and fun field trips. Jalen loved his teachers Ms. Croom and Ms. Benjamin and he will miss them and his classmates next year. I just hope he has a wonderful school year in Kindergarden like the one he experienced in Pre-School. We are so very proud of him.

Progress on Rusted Root

I have to admit when I first saw this pattern I thought it was lovely, but I didn't think I would have the patiences to do that lace pattern down the front of the sweater. I have only been knitting for about 3 and half to 4 years and I had never done lace knitting. Well, I was totally wrong! This pattern is incredibly easy to knit so far.

I am slowly making progress. This is also the first time I have used Cotton Ease yarn. It is soft, easy to work with, and looks great with is pattern. I am already thinking about how I can make me another sweater based off the knitting style of this one but with some other pattern down the front. I would love the chance to make something else with the Cotton Ease in the color Lake.
