Sahara Progress

I have been working on my Sahara sweater, and I am still hoping to have it completed by my birthday, May 9th. But for some reason I don't, I will just keep trying. I have never made so much progress on a big project and this sweater is a big project for me.

This is my first time knitting a sweater in the round and I love it. After making this, I may never knit across another sweater again!

Busy With Everything, But Knitting

The past few days have been a little busy. With house duties, paying bills, completing forms, and spending time with the family, I have to say this has been a long week and it's not even over yet. More time is always needed.

My oldest son will be attending kindergarten this Fall, and I have been trying to complete his application for the past few days. Well, I didn't complete it until last night. He has an open house this afternoon at 5:30 pm. He is so excited about going, but I don't think he realizes yet that his current friends may or may not be in his new class next school year.

I hope I will be able to knit some tonight after the kids are in bed, but that is not guaranteed. I really want to finish my Sahara sweater before May 9th. I have found that if I set a goal with my knitting, I get much more done.

Something New for Me

I became an official member of the Sexy Knitters Club today and I couldn't be more excited. My husband just made a comment yesterday about how I do old women's things -- like knitting. I almost lost it in the middle of the grocery store! I could not believe after all the hats I have knitted this man, he would allow those words to come from his lips.

So when we got home after shopping, I logged in and went straight to the SKC blog site and had him to read the club's description. He laughed at first and then said, " I am glad you found something just for you to enjoy. I know you are at home with the kids most of the day and if this helps you feel even more sexy then that's GREAT!" He went on to say he always thought I was sexy and that he loved me. He is a wonderful man and I love him more each day.

I WEAR MY BUTTON PROUDLY!

Almost Done

Well, I am almost done with the kitchen plastic bag holder I started last week. I'm not sure how long I want to make this thing, but I figure the longer I make it, the more bags I will hold on to. So on the safe side, I am not going to work on it much longer. I have decided to wait until the project is completed to add a photo. But just let me say, it is very cute!

Casting On Something New

My family recycles the plastic bags you get from the grocery store. We use them mostly for trash can liners for small cans. So when my old bag holder broke, I didn't have any place special to put them and now they are all over the place in my pantry. This project was on my futures project list, but under the conditions I thought I need to do something about the bags being everywhere.

So, I casted on my kitchen plastic bag holder yesterday. I am hoping I can finish it in about a week. This means I have to put Sahara on hold during this time, but I am still hoping to complete it by my birthday on May 9th. I found the pattern for the bag holder online a few weeks ago, I can't remember the site, but if I come across it I will mention it in another blog session.

I am using some yarn that I already had in my stash, nothing expensive, and US size 9 double pointed needles. I will post the photo after completing the bag holder.

Well, I have other things to do, like knit. So later.

Setting Goals and Working Hard

This is the beginning of the first of two Sahara sweaters that I plan to make. This one is the short sleeve version in Rowan’s All Season Cotton in the color Misty. I am using size US 8 and 6 needles instead of the recommended US 6 and 4.

I have to admit that I did have some problems at first with the provisional cast on, but I think I did ok. I decided to omit some of the decreases at the waist in the pattern to obtain a better fit for me. So far, so good! My goal is to hopefully finish this sweater before my birthday in May. At the rate I’m going, I think that is a realistic goal.
